Mrs Hilde Vautmans, liberal, Belgium and Mrs Nina Carberry, Fine Gael politician in Ireland, were both enthusiastic to animate the MEP Horse Group during their mandate.
Mrs Hilde Vautmans, as Chair of the group in the previous legislature, has managed to gather around the table, researchers, athletes and professionals of the equine industry from breeders to organisers of competitions and health experts. The highest representatives from the EU Institutions, the Horseracing industry, the Equine Breeders and from Horseracing and Equestrian Sport have shown by their presence in Brussels and the content of their testimony how valuable and forward-looking is the Equine industry in Europe.
A formal meeting to launch the Horse Group is scheduled for the beginning of November to work on the following topics: Place of the horse in agriculture, use of medicines, welfare in transport and keeping of equine.
